Description: Spelling Cat is a feline and jazz themed education tool designed to help the player improve their spelling ability. Players challenge their ability to spell words correctly in mini-games. The game is designed to be flexible enough to assist anyone regardless of their spelling proficiency. A central feature of the game is the creation and customization of word lists to use in the games. The mini-games included are:

Speak Easy - The game will speak a word from the list and the player must spell the word correctly.

Scramble - Each letter of the word is scrambled up! Drag the letters into the correct order to spell the word in your list.

Missing Letter - Identify the missing letter in the word and then drag it to its correct location.

The Virginia Standards of Learning targeted are:

2.12 & 3.11 The student will edit writing for correct grammar, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.

4.8, 5.9, & 6.7 The student will edit writing for correct grammar, capitalization, spelling, punctuation, and
sentence structure.

7.9, 8.8 , 9.7, 10.8, & 11.8 The student will edit writing for correct grammar, capitalization, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure, and paragraphing.

This game is made possible with an Enhancing Education Through Technology competitive grant from the Virginia Department of Education.
