Geocaching is a worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasure.
A multi-cache involves two or more locations. Clues guide the geocacher from location to location. Sometimes these clues involve a puzzle, some calculations (e.g. on text or using roman numbers) or projecting a new waypoint using distances and bearings. Sometimes the calculations are easy, but this toolkit can help when calculations become tedious while out there in the field.
This geocaching toolkit can help you using the following features:
Waypoint Calculations
================
- Conversion of degrees, minutes and seconds to other formats
- Conversion between WGS84 and UTM coordinates
- For my Dutch friends the RD coordinates are included
- Also the Swiss grid is supported
- Show the entered Latitude/Longitude using the iPhone map application
- Project a waypoint by specifying distance and bearing
- Calculate distance and bearing between two waypoints
- Intersect two lines using two waypoints and bearings
- Intersect two circles using two waypoints and distances
Text Calculations

- Calculate the sum of the character values in one or more words
- Choose between a=1, b=2 etc., the inverse a=26, b=25 etc. or the phonepad abc=2, def=3 etc.
- Also calculate the sum of all digits of the result
- Repeat summation of digits until 1 digit remains

- Decrypt encrypted hint text to plain text

Treasure - Virtual Geocaching

The world of geocaching has never been so accessible or so competitive! In Treasure, players compete to see who can build the biggest stash of gold. But be careful! Gold held in your treasure chest doesn't gain value, and once you've placed your gold out in the world, other players will be sure to notice...
Treasure is a massively multiplayer social networking-enabled virtual geocaching game. When you join the game, you are setup with 500 gold in a safe treasure chest and one robot minion to help collect loot. From then on, how you gain gold is up to you.
* Go out into the world and stash your gold - Buried loot gains approximately 10% every day it stays buried. But be careful... other players can scan and steal your gold, so guard it well.
* Go out into the world and find buried gold - Every day you get five free basic scans to find buried treasure near you. Purchase more basic scans in the General Store... or purchase Premium scans to see all the treasure within twenty miles of you. *** NOTE*** You MUST be within 400 meters of your target stash to be able to dig up gold.
* Send minions out to haul back gold - You start with one robot minion. Minions aren't smart, so if they encounter trapped gold, they'll just set off the trap and head home, but if they find un-trapped gold, they'll bring it back to you. Lots of gold, no travel!
To keep your gold safe, you can set traps on your stashes. The one-time-use traps are available for purchase with gold. Persistent traps come back to you after being set off and must be purchased at the General Store.
* Sphinx Guardian - Asks a random trivia question of would-be thieves. If the question is answered correctly, the thief gets away with your gold. But if the question is answered incorrectly, the Sphinx protects your stash for at least twenty four hours.
* Shock Plates - Immediately shocks would-be thieves and protects your stash for at least twenty four hours.

Download cartridges for free from the official Wherigo™ web site right from the app and play at your leisure. Note that cartridges are retained for as long as you need them and do not expire. Time estimates given on the web site and in the cartridge description are for expected playing time.
Notes:
1) With newer devices, you can download cartridges with your computer and drag and drop to the PiGo app folder in iTunes.

Location-oriented activities are useful not only as fun games to play, but can also acquaint newcomers to an area. ScavengerHunt Lite enables users to participate in these activities from within the iPhone or iPod touch. Instead of physical objects which the players must acquire, this virtual game enables the user to find stationary objects as well as portable ones.
Social networking can be incorporated into the gameplay. After finding an item, users can automatically post to Twitter. Hunts can be downloaded from within the app either from our server (by typing in the file's name) or accessed from third party servers by entering the URL of the file.
Maps are an integral component built into the interface. As items are found, their location is added to a map (indicated by a pin), and the range of locations is shown by a blue rectangle, clearly marking the boundaries of a hunt.
When an item is found, the user has the option to take a picture of the item. This picture can be retaken at any time, and is saved in the user's photo album. Each hunt consists of ten items. Each item has a name, a location, and three clues. The required proximity to the object takes into consideration the many factors that affect GPS accuracy as well as the object's size.
This app comes in three versions; the Lite, the Deluxe, and the Professional. The Lite (this version) lets the user download and participate in scavenger hunts that are created using the other versions. The Professional version will include encryption and other features to make competitive, contest-oriented hunts. The Deluxe edition allows the user to download hunts, search for items, and create unencrypted hunts. Hunts created using either the Deluxe or Professional version will be compatible with all versions of our ScavengerHunt apps.
These hunts are entirely user-created, and the hunts can be used by businesses, organizations, or just friends having fun exploring a region. Scavenger hunts uploaded to our servers are accessible to the public; be the first to create a scavenger hunt in your area! With these hunts, the possibilities are endless!
Note: This app requires the ability to obtain lat/long coordinates. If your device does not have a GPS receiver (i.e. iPod Touch), you will need to obtain this information either through a service like Google Maps or by using an external GPS receiver. This app allows coordinates to be entered manually or through the device, so it will work on devices with or without GPS receivers. This version of ScavengerHunt Lite requires ios4.
