Japanese Audio FlashCards is a foreign language vocabulary learning tool by Declan Software. The Japanese version includes around 6000 words and phrases each with a native speaker audio recording. Words are organized into approximately 100 WordFiles with each WordFile containing up to 100 words.
The Learning List:
The words are learned based on a Learning List. The Learning List contains a subset of all the words in the WordFile - 10 words by default (although this can be changed by users). The Learning List allows users to concentrate learning a small group of words at any one time. Once a word is learned (by reviewing the Learning List and completing the Exercises) it is removed from the Learning List and is replaced by another, as yet unlearned word from the WordFile. This continues until the whole WordFile is learned.
Exercises:
Words in the learning list should first be Reviewed using the "Review Learning List" option. Then users can move to the Exercises which include the Meaning Exercise, the Word Exercise, the Spelling Exercise and the Listening Exercise. Once all the exercises have been correctly completed, the word is marked as complete, removed from the Learning List and replaced by a new word. However, if the user gets one answer wrong in any of the exercises, then all the exercises must be completed again for that one word. This ensures comprehensive learning and retention.
Managing the Learning List:
After a new WordFile is loaded the Learning List size is automatically set to 10. The number of words in the Learning List can be set by adding or removing words to the Learning List in the "Review Words" feature. In the "Task" menu select "All Words in WordFile" and then return to the main page. The select "Review All WordFile Words". As you progress through the words in the WordFile words can be added to and dropped from the Learning List using the "Add to Learning List" / "Drop from Learning List" button. If you end up changing the number of words in the Learning List, that number will be maintained as words are learning and dropped from the Learning List, and new words are automatically added the Learning List to replace learned words.
Loading new WordFiles:
To switch to another wordfile simply press the "Load Another WordFile" button and then select the WordFile you desire from the "Load WordFile" table. The Audio FlashCards comes preloaded with 3 WordFiles - all other WordFiles are downloaded by the application as required using an (WiFi or 3G) internet connection. If a WordFile needs to be downloaded before it can be used it will have a grey icon next to it in the "Load WordFile" table. To start downloading the WordFile simply select that WordFile and then press the "Start Download" button.

A Japanese guide to learning Japanese grammar

This guide is an attempt to systematically build up the grammatical structures that make up the Japanese language in a way that makes sense in Japanese. It may not be a practical tool for quickly learning immediately useful Japanese phrases (for example, common phrases for travel). However, it will logically create grammatical building blocks that will result in a solid grammatical foundation. For those of you who have learned Japanese from textbooks, you may see some big differences in how the material is ordered and presented. This is because this guide does not seek to forcibly create artificial ties between English and Japanese by presenting the material in a way that makes sense in English. Instead, examples with translations will show how ideas are expressed in Japanese resulting in simpler explanations that are easier to understand.

JLPT Study FREE, Kanji and Vocabulary Japanese Proficiency Level N5

This if the FREE version of JLPT Study, Level 1-5 Japanese Language Proficiency, containing all of level N5 Kanji (103) and all the roughly 650 words in the level N5 list.
This application will help you study the vocabulary for the Japanese Language Proficiency Tests (JLPT).
The JLPT ("u65e5"u672c"u8a9e"u80fd"u529b"u8a66"u9a13 nihongo n"u014dryoku shiken) is a standardized test for evaluating the Japanese language proficiency for non-japanese.
The study mode is based on interval as this will effectively reinforce your long term memory of the words.
The interval study will increase the time until next study for a word for each time the word is marked as known. If a word is not known, its score will be reduced and you will have to study it more often until its score has been restored. This makes you focus on words not yet memorized.
As each level contains quite a lot of words, the study set (number of words) can be limited. From the selected set, only the words valid for study (according to the chosen study mode) can be studied. Add more words if the number of due words is zero but you still want to move on.
Each time you start a new study, the selected words will be randomized. After the study session is over, you will see how many words you knew and also where you are in your goal to complete the level.

If you do not yet know furigana (hiragana and katakana), make sure to learn it. Very important for studying Japanese. However, until you have mastered furigana there is an option to display romanji spelling.
Remember, even if your goal is not to pass the JLPT, you still can learn tons of new Japanese words to use in your everyday life.
